In Rio de Janeiro, Marina Fragoso's grandmother kept the gems her husband, a mining engineer, brought home from his travels. Each became a jewel, and each jewel had a story. Marina grew up listening to them. Today she hunts for stones of her own, choosing every diamond and gemstone one by one for pieces made by hand, to order.

Marina's grandfather was a mining engineer whose work took him to remote places. He always came home with gemstones for her grandmother, and together they designed pieces with a local goldsmith.
Every summer Marina stayed at their home in Rio. While other children went to the beach, she begged to see the jewelry. Her grandmother would open each box and tell its story: where the stone came from, and the moment it marked.
Born in Rio and raised between Miami and New York, Marina spent 13 years as a photographer before turning to jewelry. Today she sources the gems and oversees every piece herself.
